		<description>Hi,
I live on the northern tablelands NSW.
My asparagus has fruited very nicely particularly last season. Now I would like to divide the plants in preparation for next Spring. The plants some now over 2mtrs and three years since planting the first crowns are brown on top.
Do I break the crowns by pulling them apart and replant in the same bed 3mt x 5mt and 25cm board surround after topping with organic manure/mulch and dampening the soil.
Do I then put a thin layer of lucern mulch to protect from frosts.
Is there a companion plant i could also add to this bed?
 Hope you can advise me
Regards
