You can apply mulch to soil to prevent soil erosion as it ensures the moisture quantity is maintained in the soil. Also they decompose over time adding nutrients to the soil; for this reason it is advised to add 2-3 inches of Mulch to soil in start of every season. It prevents rainwater from washing the soil and absorbs the water content of soil. But also take a note that the root should not get in contact with the mulch as the moisture will render the roots and the entire plant rotten.

You can consider an example of drought resisting plants which are ideal for dry climate lands as high watering will never be required from your side.

Crop rotation is a wide spread and beneficial practice as it ensures – the nutrients remain intact with the soil and pests are controlled. Different crops attract different category of pests, so rotation will ensure no single type will remain forever or grow. It helps retain the nutrients in the soil as different crops require diff nutrients.

Do grow hardwood trees i.e. which shed leaves and bear new ones every year. In spring they’ll bear full leaves preventing sunlight and in winter they become bare, allowing sunshine to reach you. Also it saves a lot of cost for air cooling and warming etc.

Some animals, insects, flies help the plant grow healthily by either killing the harmful ones or by pollinating the plants. Earthworms help aerate the soil ensuring oxygen and water to the roots. You should make sure, such beneficial organisms thrive.
